We get our fair share of pleasant weather here in Australia but when the winter months come around, it can get particularly cold and it may be down to global warming or some other thing, but the point is that it is becoming a little bit more difficult to stay warm during these times. Depending on your health situation, cold weather can affect different people in different ways and for the older generation, the cold brings uncomfortable times and illness. The price of energy is rising all the time and so maybe it’s time to start looking for other ways to keep yourself warm during particular cold spells.
We have already gone through one pandemic and now scientists are warning about the flu and how it’s going to be a lot stronger next time. - Eat a balanced diet – It is essential that you get your vitamins and nutrients every single day and the only way for that to happen is to just follow the advice that you have been given your whole life and to eat lots of fruit, fresh vegetables, grains and lean meats. - Take regular exercise – It goes without saying that staying active is incredibly good for your overall health and it helps to raise your body temperature as well. If it gets to the point that it’s too cold go outside then don’t use this as an excuse and try to do at least 30 minutes of exercise in your home. Simply walking up and down the stairs the 30 minutes is enough to keep you in great shape.
Most importantly and especially if you are in your retirement years, is that you make sure that you keep in close contact with friends and family using your smart phone if you have one or your desktop computer. Your family and friends are there to help you if you ever need them and it is always important to feel connected.
