The Gymuseum at Forteza Fitness & Martial Arts is a one-of-a-kind “living museum” of antique exercise apparatus set within a 5,000 sq ft, late-19th-century–themed training studio. Here, history and fitness collide: walls lined with period prints of combat athletes complement original cast-iron and oak machines crafted over a century ago, all solidly built from industrial-age materials like spring steel. Visitors can explore early rowing machines, wall-mounted pulley systems, and hand-forged weights in situ—no velvet ropes required.
Far from a static display, the Gymuseum actively invites you to engage with these relics: “look, but don’t touch” simply doesn’t apply. Participants are encouraged to swing hardwood Indian clubs, lift “Sandow” spring-loaded dumbbells, or mount the vintage gymnastics bar as part of guided circuit training sessions. Whether you’re drawn by the novelty of exercising on century-old equipment or eager to delve into the roots of modern physical culture, the Gymuseum delivers a hands-on historical workout. Educational tours for schools and special interest groups can also be arranged by appointment.
