Is Poker Playing Can Be A Good Career Option?

Is poker a viable career option? Years of practice and research are required to make a living playing poker as a profession. Burnout and downswings are real threats to a pro’s life, but becoming a practitioner necessitates patience and preparation. Furthermore, since poker is constantly changing, a player must consistently change to keep winning.

1. Make Certain You Have a Strong Passion for the Game

I’ve seen many players come and go in the poker world. Consider some of the “big name” athletes from a decade ago. How many of them are still necessary or even exist? Most poker careers are short because if you do not enjoy the cash games, it can quickly become an unbearable grind. Any work, anywhere in the world, is the same. If you don’t like what you’re doing, it doesn’t matter how much money you make. You’ll soon become disillusioned and yearn to do something different. So, before you even consider making a living playing poker, answer a straightforward question. Would you still play poker as a serious hobby if there was no money to be made?

2. Your Work Days Should Be Organized

You will have significant problems as a poker professional if you are not the kind of person who can adhere to a timetable. It’s simple to play you anytime like a hobbyist or part-time artist. If poker is your primary revenue source, this is unlikely to succeed.

Believe me when I say that the grind will inevitably catch up with you, and unless you adhere to a rigorous schedule, the number of hours you play per week will eventually decrease. Your hours will be reduced before you know it, and you will not be taking in enough money to maintain your budgeted lifestyle.  You are the only person that comprehends yourself. Be frank with yourself and set realistically sustainable hours that you will commit to. And, for God’s sake, don’t forget to include leisure events in your schedule. Outside of poker, you need something to look forward to.

3. Strike A Balance

It’s quick to get obsessed with poker as a player. However, if you want to stay in your job for a long time, you must deliberately establish a sense of harmony in your life. The easiest way to achieve long-term sustainability is to split your life into different passions and hobbies. To put it another way, you get down to business when it comes to poker. You put poker down and don’t let it overtake your mind when it’s time to do something else. No matter what you do, this is one of the most challenging things humans can do. We’re creatures who believe that the grass is still greener in the wrong way. We fantasize about relaxing on the beach while we’re at work. On the other side, when we’re at the pool, we’re dreaming about what we’ll do when we get back to work.
