Alana’s Lyme Journey – Part 6 – Follow-up Appointment

Am I cured?

I have been on Doxycycline and Tinidazole since my diagnosis in May. Am I cured? Am I doing better? Well…the brain fog and problems concentrating are gone. I don’t have nearly as much fatigue as I used to. I’m still limping though and the numbness and arthritic symptoms are still with me.

Why I went off Lyme meds

Another follow-up consultation with Dr. McFadzean

I had a phone consultation with Dr. McFadzean and she is concerned that the antibiotics are not strong enough to treat the Lyme. She recommends that I go on Omnicef and that I try Bicillin injections 2xs/week in addition to taking the Doxcy and the Tinidazole.

Ugh! I’m not sure my stomach can handle it, since two medications give me occasional bouts with nausea. Oh well, time to suck it up! I want to get better and get back to running again!

On a side note, I was training to do the Hotter-n-Hell century ride at the end of August. Dr. McFadzean pretty much nixed that event for me.

Can Energy Medicine Work on Lyme Disease and Fertility Issues?

A changed lifestyle since discovering about having Lyme Disease

I know cycling 100 miles in 100+ degree weather is NOT the smartest thing to do, while on antibiotics and treating Lyme. I just don’t (and am very thankful) feel sick to where I’m in bed all day. I’m able to push through the nausea when I workout or ride. I can ignore the pain. Recovering from exercise is tougher than it usually is, but I can live with that. It was hard to walk away from this race, but I know it’s the right thing to do.

Aahh, what am I complaining about? There are so many folks out there with Lyme who are thankful just to walk to the kitchen or take their kids to school in the morning. Well, let’s see if the new meds work!
